About the Role:

RTI International is seeking an experienced laboratory science professional to serve as the Business Relationship Manager (BRM) in our growing Global Technology Solutions (GTS) team. The BRM will serve as the strategic interface within the Discovery Science (DS) business unit for the purpose of business-IT strategy development, solution discovery, service management, risk management and relationship management. The BRM serves as the relationship linkage between the business unit/s and Global Technology Solutions (GTS). They provide high-valued strategic consulting level support and guidance throughout key GTS initiatives. They facilitate and serve as a lead for the planning and execution of initiatives to enable the business unit/s to achieve objectives through the effective use of technology. They also communicate decisions, priorities, and relevant project information to appropriate levels of staff regarding service requests, projects and initiatives.

Essential Business Relationship Manager (BRM) Duties:

  • Drive continuous business improvements and deliver results that exceed quality expectations.
  • Demonstrate relevant external research of business process and technology options/alternatives
  • Responsible for collaborative review of solutions and roadmap ideas with adherence to the architecture standards and the solution delivery team standards.
  • Introduce solutions that deliver business value and minimizes organizational complexity.
  • Responsible for supporting strategic business initiatives across the institute by enhancing and evolving the technology environment.
  • Maintain KPIs and other measurable goals for the business capabilities;
    • Visionary roadmap, showing the future state of the capabilities;
    • Business & Technology roadmaps, setting expectations business and technology delivery by quarter;
    • Prioritization matrix, establishing clear priorities for each business capability.
  • Support and/or be responsible for ongoing communication of the roadmap and performance against it via:
    • Published up-to-date service/capability release calendars;
    • Service metrics for the related Business Unit;
    • Quarterly executive updates.

Minimum Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Chemistry, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience supporting or working in a laboratory research environment
  • Minimum 2 years of experience supporting or working in IT or a technology field
  • Demonstrated experience in IT, with a focus on computerized lab systems
    • Computerized lab systems to include but not limited to:
      • Agilent systems
      • Thermo systems
      • Waters/Empower systems
      • General working experience in GC/LC mass-spectrometry
  • Knowledge of regulatory and validation requirements in the lab environment
    • GLP (Good Laboratory Practice)
    • Systems validation
    • Other industry standards (NIST 800-53, etc.)
  • Experience in Laboratory research environments (Administration, Service, Consulting)

Preferred Experience:

  • Knowledge of customer facing project/research environments and competitive technologies, industries, and landscapes preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to negotiate, mitigate conflict, build alliances and achieve desired results using strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills.
  • Ability to share technology risks and opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Institute.
  • Ability to advocate on behalf of business stakeholders to ensure GTS services meet their business priorities and needs.
  • Driven by results and metrics.
  • Flexibility in the face of obstacles and ability to solve complex problems creatively.
  • Ability to learn new solutions and processes without a lot of assistance.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and rapidly-evolving environment.
  • Strong project management skills. 

Must be a US citizen due to specific contract requirements.
