RTI International is seeking an enthusiastic, results-driven leader to join us as a Director, Enterprise Data & Analytics within our Global Technology Solutions team. The Director of EDA is responsible for strategic planning, roadmap, development, and execution of the modern Enterprise Data platform and services. Focus of work includes aligning closely with technical peers, enterprise architecture, data privacy, project management, vendors, and internal partners to improve our competitive positioning, technical vision, user experience and release of service improvements. The ideal candidate is a veteran in the data an analytics space with people leadership experience, who enjoys teamwork and excels at telling a story with facts and data. The candidate influences without leaning on authority. They are an accomplished thought leader with experience across a broad range of data technologies as well as possessing large-scale project delivery experience. They have strong customer engagement, management skills, technical acumen, deep technical knowledge. They have solid understanding and practical experience in data governance, metadata management, data management, data science, EDW, and Big Data. As the communication leader for the team, the ideal candidate should be able to build presentations of technical concepts and vision in easy to read understand illustrations.

Duties to include, but not be limited to:
  • Define the strategy and drive the implementation of the next generation of enterprise data and analytics platform and tools.
  • Develop and lead the Enterprise Data and Analytics team.
  • Ensure essential technologies and tools to support the strategy are leveraged and monitored as the team modernizes practices and technologies.
  • Contribute as a senior leader to the Global Technology Solutions team.
  • Collaborate with the Digital Transformation team to explore and support opportunities in Data and Analytics.
  • Build and maintain and operational dashboard for the health and efficacy of the Data and Analytics platform.
  • Oversee the financial management of the Data and Analytics team.
  • Project delivery and oversight – responsible for the development, implementation, and enhancements for the data & analytics roadmap toward a modern data platform and data management standards
  • Partner with business relationship managers to prioritize and deliver technology solutions to meet business needs and create simplified user experiences
  • Manage vendor deliverables and relationships for data & analytics investments and consulting services
  • Leads and measures performance and operational resiliency related to data platforms, systems, practices, and methodologies 
Will consider any location, but RTP is the preferred location.
Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data & Analytics, or related field required.
  • Master’s degree in Data & Analytics or Data Science preferred 
  • 10 to 12 years of relevant technology and EDW experience  
  • Minimum 12 years’ experience in technology data management or advanced analytics or related position
  • 8+ years of managerial experience and very large data environments
  • Experience with innovation and ideation methods, such as design thinking, applied in a data environment
  • Business acumen, and the ability to communicate to executives, business domain stakeholders, and technical staff alike
  • Understanding of metamodels, taxonomies, and ontologies, as well as the challenges of applying structured techniques to less structured sources.
  • Technical experience and thought leadership in the BI/EDW/Big Data domain with the following types of tools is a plus: MS Stack (SSAS, SSIS, SQL Server), Hadoop (Hortonworks, Kafka, Pig, Hive, Spark, Tez, Ranger, etc), Mongo, Redhat, NoSQL, MySQL 
  • Delivery experience and thought leadership in the Analytics & Reporting domain with the following types of tools is a plus: Cognos, SSRS, PowerBI, Python, R, Spark R, Tableau, Datameer, Platfora, & mobile delivery)
  • Ability to analyze project program, and portfolio needs, as well as determine the resources needed ot achieve objectives and overcome cross-functional barriers.
  • Proficiency in driving productivity improvements and an industry-leading customer experience.
  • Functional/Technical Skill in data technology related domains (proven coding and platform experience)
  • Ability to Drive a Business-aligned Enterprise Data & Analytics Strategy
  • Evidence of proven results and metric based leadership
  • Leadership, teamwork, relationship building, conflict resolution, verbal/written communication, customer orientation, problem solving.
  • Prior success with people management, talent assessment, coaching, performance management.
  • Proven project/program management skills such as planning, scope, quality, time, cost and resource control, communication and status, risk management.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking ability such as experience establishing strategies and roadmaps for business, technologies and peoples to meet IT and corporate goals


Physical and mental demands of this role include those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, as outlined above.  Examples include:  remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time; operating a computer and other office machinery; thinking, learning, and concentrating effectively and frequently communicating with other people, both within RTI and outside of RTI; frequently moving about inside and travel between offices and laboratories; frequently conducting laboratory site inspections (if applicable), ability to handle the stress associated in meeting frequent, multiple and tight deadlines, ability to work in excess of 40 hours per week as workload and deadlines may require, consistent demonstration of mental stability and ability to have regular, reliable and predictable attendance.
