Job Summary:

The RTI Global Payroll Team is looking for a Global Payroll Specialist to join us at the RTI International Headquarters in Durham, North Carolina.  In this role you will be responsible for all activities necessary to produce and audit domestic payrolls.


  • Perform all necessary activities to complete bi-weekly payrolls; including payroll data processing and maintenance, payroll calculation, payment disbursement, administration of tax forms, deposits and fillings, etc.
  • Perform all necessary activities related to time reporting; including time collection system administration, labor processing and distribution, etc.
  • Partner with the members of the extended team, including benefits operations, human resources information system (HRIS), and information technology (IT) associates for effective delivery of services.
  • Analyze payroll processes and make recommendations for process improvements.
  • Resolve and respond to employee inquiries.
  • Respond to outside requests for payroll information such as employment and wage verifications, garnishment inquiries, tax notices, third party vendors, etc.
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of payroll files, systems, and reports in compliance with various governmental regulations.
  • Assist with system administration, testing, and upgrades.
  • Assist with responses to audit, regulatory and general ledger inquiries.
  • Prepare and reconcile journal entries.
  • Assist with quarter and year end processing.
  • Assist with preparing of relevant and requested management reports and audits.
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures.
  • Assist and/or lead additional projects as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 or more years Payroll or Human Resources experience, or other related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid ethical standards regarding the handling of confidential information.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • High-level organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient knowledge of payroll tax and labor laws, garnishment requirements, payroll recordkeeping and reporting regulations.
  • Understanding of HIPAA and FLSA regulations.
  • Required experience and knowledge of ADP Workforce Now, ADP E-time.
  • Preferred experience and knowledge of Databasics Expense Reporting, IDI (Integrated Design) Workforce Management, Deltek Time Collection, and Oracle HCM systems




The anticipated pay range for this role is listed below. Our pay ranges represent national averages and may vary by location as a geographic differential may be applied to some locations within the United States.

Salary range: $58,000-$72,000
