RTI Health Solutions provides scientifically rigorous research and consulting services to pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device/diagnostic, and other healthcare industry clients. We are looking for a dynamic and talented candidate to launch their career within our Health Economics team.


As a Research Health Economist, Health Economics and Real-World Evidence you will work within an experienced team in a friendly and collaborative environment. As part of our team, you will perform leading-edge research and analyses to evaluate the clinical, humanistic, and/or economic value of new medicines and other healthcare products.


You will conduct health economics/outcomes research studies to examine economic burden-of-illness, treatment patterns, medication use, and clinical outcomes using administrative health insurance claims/electronic medical record (EMR) datasets such as MarketScan, PharMetrics, Medicare and Medicaid, SEER-Medicare Linked Database, Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD), and The Health Improvement Network (THIN), as well as data drawn from customized retrospective medical record abstractions (i.e., chart reviews)


Our research is used by pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device/diagnostic, and other healthcare technology manufacturers and Health Technology Assessment authorities worldwide to inform their decisions about the availability, pricing, and reimbursement of new healthcare interventions. This position is an office-based position that is preferably located at our Research Triangle Park Headquarters. Remote options will be considered.



  • Assist in the designing, management, implementation, and delivering of high-quality scientific projects to agreed timelines and budgets under direction of more senior staff
  • Organize data and construct analytic datasets from complex data sources using SAS statistical software
  • Assist in the development of statistical analysis plans and conduct analysis of data according to project-specified protocols
  • Synthesize results/produce output such as reports, tables, and figures, as driven by project-specific needs
  • Prepare high-quality drafts of proposals, technical reports, slide set presentations, manuscripts, and abstracts/posters for professional meetings to be reviewed by project manager
  • Implement and deliver high-quality scientific projects to agreed timelines and budgets
  • Respond to requests from staff for analytic support
  • Begin to build scientific stature through publication in peer-reviewed journals and conference symposia 
  • Communicate effectively (via email, telephone, and in-person) with clients and team members regarding proposals and project


  • A Master’s degree in economics, health economics, statistics, biostatistics, mathematics, or a related field OR a Bachelor’s degree in one of the aforementioned fields and a minimum of 2 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, contract research, or related area
  • Demonstrated interest in healthcare research or the pharmaceutical industry
  • Publication history is a plus
  • A minimum of 2 years of programming experience with the SAS statistical software package (mainframe preferred)
  • Experience in manipulating, cleaning, and conducting analyses of large administrative claims data (e.g., data from commercial insurers or government programs such as Medicare) and other retrospective data sources, and reporting of results
  • Demonstrated ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills (both written and oral) and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced multitasking environment

The anticipated pay range for this role is listed below. Our pay ranges represent national averages and may vary by location as a geographic differential may be applied to some locations within the United States.
