RTI is hiring for a Sr. Market Research Analyst within our Social, Statistical, & Environmental Sciences Group (SSES), that will work with the SSES Strategy and Innovation Office. This is an integral role in helping map and integrate a unified strategy that prepares SSES for today’s needs, while also positioning for the needs of tomorrow.

This individual will provide the market and competitive intelligence analyses and insights necessary to help (SSES) leaders make business decisions ranging from; strategy development to targeted market and account selection and planning. The strategy and innovation office has four primary functions: strategy development and execution, innovation strategy, market analyses and competitive intelligence, and strategic partnerships.

Responsibilities/duties to include, but not be limited to;
  • Conduct market research for relevant segments, clients, and service areas.
  • Develop in-depth understanding of high potential market segments and client organizations and identify important contacts at client companies.
  • Build and maintain a network of internal and external intelligence sources.
  • Research, interpret, and present quantitative and qualitative information, weaving together disparate data points to build actionable, concise competitive intelligence and other insights.
  • Collaborate with RTI’s Office of Corporate Strategy, RTI’s Government Relations Office, and other RTI business units to establish and implement best practices for market and competitive data acquisition, analysis, sharing, and presentation in an actionable manner
  • Coordinate findings, conclusions, and recommendations with outputs from other groups across RTI.
  • Directly support SSES leadership by providing on-demand analytical services and products.
  • Conduct regular account reviews with internal stakeholders. 
  • Support the development and implementation of strategic plans and related business processes across SSES. Provide input to technical reports and articles for submission to various SSES and RTI stakeholders
  • Represent SSES in various settings (e.g. client agency information sessions, scientific meetings and conferences, etc.) for purposes of gathering market and competitive intelligence.
  • Develop understanding and appreciation of client priorities 
  • Expand expertise and credentials in profession through ongoing professional development.
Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree and 6 years’ related experience; or 10+ years of related experience
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel.
  • Knowledge of Power BI and/or similar analytic platforms preferred.
  • Familiarity with the structure and content of public sector budget, procurement, and contract data systems preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills, including ability to deconstruct, interpret and link together complex competitor activities in order to derive conclusions and recommendations.
  • Excellent market research knowledge and creativity in utilizing various information sources to gather data.
  • High level of discretion and organizational awareness.
  • Ability to handle/communicate delicate information.
  • Ability to produce high-quality outputs in response to specific technical and analytical requests.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to listen and communicate well both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, other RTI staff, and vendors.

Physical and mental demands of this role include those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, as outlined above.  Examples include:  remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time; operating a computer and other office machinery; thinking, learning, and concentrating effectively and frequently communicating with other people, both within RTI and outside of RTI; frequently moving about inside and travel between offices and laboratories; frequently conducting laboratory site inspections (if applicable), ability to handle the stress associated in meeting frequent, multiple and tight deadlines, ability to work in excess of 40 hours per week as workload and deadlines may require, consistent demonstration of mental stability and ability to have regular, reliable and predictable attendance.
