HR Directions seeks a candidate for it's client, RTI International, for a Social, Statistical, and Environmental Sciences (SSES) Quality Office Internship.

The SSES Quality Office is responsible for monitoring and managing the quality of work on SSES projects performed in health, surveys, environment, education, criminal justice, and other areas of social science research. SSES performs more
than 1000 projects and $500 million in work annually at locations across the US and around the world.

The selected intern will assist with developing and implementing an internal survey of SSES staff to assess their awareness of the quality program, understanding of quality program elements, and satisfaction with technical support provided for quality management. This internship will provide you the opportunity to learn about the portfolio of work performed by RTI to address
challenges ranging from opioids to climate change.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • Assessing tools for conducting an internal staff survey.
  • Designing the survey questions in collaboration with quality and survey professionals in SSES.
  • Developing and applying analytical techniques to the survey data to interpret the results and identify key findings.
  • Developing data visualizations that provide rapid insight into key data content and writing up a summary report on
  • findings from the survey.
Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled rising junior or senior undergraduate or graduate student in a field requiring data analysis.
  • Understanding of quantitative and qualitative data analysis and presentation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in one or more software tools for data analysis and presentation, such as Excel, Tableau, Python, R, or SAS.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in environment, public health, or education

Physical and mental demands of this role include those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, as outlined above.  Examples include:  remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time; operating a computer and other office machinery; thinking, learning, and concentrating effectively and frequently communicating with other people, both within RTI and outside of RTI; frequently moving about inside and travel between offices and laboratories; frequently conducting laboratory site inspections (if applicable), ability to handle the stress associated in meeting frequent, multiple and tight deadlines, ability to work in excess of 40 hours per week as workload and deadlines may require, consistent demonstration of mental stability and ability to have regular, reliable and predictable attendance.
