Minimum Required Education & Experience
• Master’s Degree in Urban Planning or Management, Environmental Science or Policy, Engineering or MBA with focus in international development, sustainable development or related concentrations with 3-5+ years of relevant work experience is desired. 
• Minimum 3 years of experience working on urban planning projects in developing countries funded by international organizations. 
• Experience working with and demonstrated understanding of funding cycles of international organizations is a requirement (development banks, bilateral and multi-lateral donors, foundations, etc.).

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
• Critical and strategic thinker, able to identify issues and opportunities, provide solutions and reach consensus with multiple stakeholders.
• Possess an understanding of how to engage overseas business markets. Experience working with developing/emerging market countries in Africa, Central/South America, and/or Southeast Asia highly-preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and proven ability to interact with a diverse and cross-cultural candidate and client population.
• Demonstrated successful track record in building relationships with international clients; ability to interact effectively and positively with all levels of internal and external clients and colleagues.
• Excellent interpersonal, networking and presentation skills.
• Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel.
• Experience with client/contact management systems and business capture tools. 
• Ability to travel to international locations for up to 25% time.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines under pressure.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Culturally sensitive and respectful.
• Foreign language proficiency is desirable but not a requirement.
Relevant writing samples may be requested. Must be able to work in the U.S. without requirement of sponsorship.


Physical and mental demands of this role include those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, as outlined above.  Examples include:  remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time; operating a computer and other office machinery; thinking, learning, and concentrating effectively and frequently communicating with other people, both within RTI and outside of RTI; frequently moving about inside and travel between offices and laboratories; frequently conducting laboratory site inspections (if applicable), ability to handle the stress associated in meeting frequent, multiple and tight deadlines, ability to work in excess of 40 hours per week as workload and deadlines may require, consistent demonstration of mental stability and ability to have regular, reliable and predictable attendance.
