Minimum Required Education & Experience

    

Master’s degree and 6 years of experience or Bachelor’s Degree and 10 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Knowledge of the local labor law in South Africa and the other designated countries; Working knowledge of and experience in local labor and employment laws and legal resources.

  • Ability to work independently as well as perform in matrix organization.

  • Strong ability for partnership and collaboration. 

  • Second language (French and English) required.

  • Ability to travel as part of their role.

  • Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Strong influencing and coaching skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines under pressure

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Ability to work independently and within matrix project and program teams

  • Attention to detail and accuracy

  • Culturally sensitive and respectful

  • Experience working on large-scale, multi-country project(s)

  • Previous experience as an HR manager for USAID funded project(s)

  • Knowledge of local labor laws across multiple sub-Saharan Africa countries, specifically Cameroon, Cote D’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal, Somalia and Uganda a plus

  • Demonstrates commitment to RTI’s mission, vision and values

  •  Operating a computer and other office machinery

  • Thinking, learning, and concentrating effectively and frequently communicating with other people, both within RTI and outside of RTI, as well as across countries in sub-Saharan Africa

  • Ability to handle the stress associated in meeting frequent, multiple and tight deadlines

  • Ability to travel to countries in sub-Saharan Africa as required

  • Ability to work in excess of 40 hours per week as workload and deadlines may require
