RTI’s Behavioral Health Financing, Economics, and Evaluation Program seeks a Master’s-Level Health Analyst with strong quantitative capabilities. The position will be based in one of three locations: Chicago, IL; Research Triangle Park, NC; or Rockville, MD office. Location will be determined after applications are received.

 

The center conducts contract and grant funded work in epidemiology, health policy, public health, and health economics, with a primary focus on substance use and mental health. The position is likely most suitable for candidates with a background or major in disciplines such as economics, decision science, health services research, public policy, epidemiology, and operations research. The successful applicant will play a role in the application of a variety of quantitative and qualitative research methods in support of projects that monitor and evaluate efforts to improve behavioral health.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct quantitative analyses on a range of projects for federal, state, and local governmental and non-profit clients
  • Code, clean, and manage datasets using statistical software such as Stata, SAS, R, and Excel
  • Perform statistical analyses under the direction of senior staff
  • Program cost-effectiveness, budget impact, cost-of-illness, disease transmission, and budget allocation models using decision-analytic techniques such as decision trees, Markov modeling, microsimulation, and optimization modeling
  • Interpret and report on findings from data
  • Contribute to discussions with external stakeholders
  • Synthesize qualitative findings for reports
  • Review the literature in health services research, economics, or social science to identify specific findings
  • Assist in the creation of scientific publications and technical reports by providing research support for senior staff
  • Prepare tables and charts; write sections of reports and proposals
  • Compile meeting notes and manage basic project correspondence
  • Interact and communicate regularly with internal team members 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Master's degree in economics, decision science, health services research, public policy, or social science field required
  • Quantitative research experience or course work in quantitative health, public policy, or social science field
  • Proficiency in Stata or similar statistical software, such as SAS or R, is required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required
  • Exemplary oral, written, and inter-personal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage tasks on multiple projects  
  • To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require, now or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status

Preferred Qualifications:

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
