Internship Description

HR Directions seeks a prospect for its client RTI International for the Sanitation Innovation Consulting Internship with the Innovation Advisors.

RTI’s Innovation Advisors help our clients innovate by building capacity, providing insight, and accelerating technology from lab to market. Using systematic and rigorous approaches, we harness the power of insight gained from inside and outside of organizations to bring clients the context, connections, and analysis to make decisions, forge partnerships, and launch products. Anchored within a nonprofit research institute, the Innovation Advisors deliver consulting services and analysis that are rooted in research, whether we are serving as an extension of our client’s team or a third party, objective and confidential resource. For global corporations, federal agencies, and foundations, we offer a comprehensive set of services to deliver actionable insight, creating meaning, and discern the path ahead.

The Sanitation Innovation Consulting Intern will assist with providing market and consumer research, commercialization support, and partner due diligence services to clients of the Innovation Advisors. This internship will primarily support the Sanitation Technology Platform (STeP) to facilitate the commercialization and scaling of emerging sanitation technologies. The selected intern will work closely with a team and contribute to research, writing, analyses, and thought leadership. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting research using secondary resources (published company information, SEC filings, scholarly journals, trade literature, and news articles), as well as primary resources (i.e. phone interviews) when needed
  • Providing insightful analysis of opportunities identified during primary and secondary research in written and oral formats
  • Developing marketing descriptions of new technologies and conducting research on a wide range of sanitation technology products and application spaces
  • Developing and synthesizing insights related to business, market shaping and regulatory issues surrounding new product development, launch, and scale
  • Employing commercialization and innovation-related frameworks, such as the business model canvas and value proposition testing, to new technologies

If you are excited about challenging global social issues and working with clients, applying both analytical and human-centered design to your work, this could be a great opportunity for you. Successful prospects will be learners who value collaboration, enjoy working in a client-centric team, and approach problems with objectivity and scientific rigor.

RTI's Internship Program emphasizes experiential and mentored learning experiences, providing students and recent degree recipients an opportunity to apply their academic knowledge and skills in a meaningful and practical way. We are committed to developing the future workforce by encouraging interns to explore various career paths in a nonprofit research institute setting that values diversity and inclusion. Through this program, interns will be exposed to RTI's open and educational culture; support RTI's mission to improve the human condition; and build upon their career goals.
