The expert medical writers, editors, and graphic designers on the Medical Writing, Editing, and Design Services (MEDS) team at RTI-HS partner with researchers to deliver exceptional content that exceeds our clients' expectations. Our publications professionals organize and present RTI-HS’s research in a concise, compelling manner that is appropriate for the target audience.



We are currently searching for an individual who likes to collaborate with internal and external authors and stakeholders to write scientific publications, primarily manuscripts.



Do you have a knack for evaluating and summarizing data from study results and documentation?



If so, you might be the Medical Writer we are looking for.  In addition to the above-mentioned tasks, you will develop publications in accordance with company style guide and journal guidelines, while providing oversight to the internal quality review processes, including senior scientific review, data verification, and editorial review.   Your work will uphold industry publication standards, including ICMJE recommendations and GPP3 practices




  • Four-year college degree a scientific discipline, English, or communications
  • 3 years of experience writing publications in a medical or scientific setting
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the AMA Manual of Style
  • Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor and colleagues
  • Ability to support a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders and adapt working style to accommodate a variety of personalities and needs
  • Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically
  • Ability to prioritize workload and to make strategic decisions about what to accomplish when faced with competing needs


  • Experience in outcomes research and/or pharmacoeconomics
  • Experience with EndNote reference management software



Physical and mental demands of this role include those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, as outlined above.  Examples include:  remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time; operating a computer and other office machinery; thinking, learning, and concentrating effectively and frequently communicating with other people, both within RTI and outside of RTI; frequently moving about inside and travel between offices and laboratories; frequently conducting laboratory site inspections (if applicable), ability to handle the stress associated in meeting frequent, multiple and tight deadlines, ability to work in excess of 40 hours per week as workload and deadlines may require, consistent demonstration of mental stability and ability to have regular, reliable and predictable attendance.
