We are seeking an experienced researcher who is passionate about patient-centered research and who is looking for an opportunity to develop their career in a collaborative, client-focused, fast-paced, and dynamic research environment. Our Patient-Centered Outcomes Assessment (PCOA) team includes researchers in both Europe and North America who are committed to conducting high quality research to bring the patient voice into the drug development process. You will be working as part of our successful European PCOA team based out of Manchester, UK.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and further your career as a researcher working with pharmaceutical clients to support value of clinical outcome assessment (COA) measurement at regulatory, reimbursement and drug-development hurdles. As a PCOA researcher at RTI-HS you would be involved in all aspects of research related to patient-reported, clinician-reported and performance outcomes measurement.

Our typical project work includes the following:

  • Conducting qualitative interviews with patients, caregivers, patient advocates and clinical key opinion leaders

  • Developing and adapting COA instruments for completion by patients, caregivers and clinicians

  • Evaluation of COA instrument psychometric and measurement properties

  • Collection of patient-reported survey data

  • Conducting targeted literature reviews to support COA endpoints

  • Development and support of COA measurement strategies

  • Provision of regulatory guidance and support, including the development of COA evidence dossiers

  • Dissemination of research via scientific publications and presentations at scientific meetings

As an experienced researcher, you would fully contribute to the design, planning, conduct and reporting of research projects commissioned by our clients. You would be working as part of a small team with the support of senior research staff. Depending upon your level of experience, there will be opportunities to lead project proposals, key project activities under the leadership of a Project Director, or entire projects with the support of senior staff. In turn, we look forward to supporting you to further develop your career and to support your growth as a research scientist.

Key Requirements:

  • A postgraduate degree (Masters or PhD) plus a minimum of five years of experience conducting patient-centered research within a consultancy-based environment
  • An understanding of both qualitative and quantitative research methods with experience of either area gained in an academic, industry or consultancy environment
  • Experience of conducting high quality scientific projects within agreed timelines and budgets
  • Knowledge and experience of research design
  • Knowledge and experience of literature review methodology
  • Experience preparing proposals either independently or as part of a team
  • Experience preparing study reports
  • Experience leading or contributing to scientific publications
  • Experience using qualitative and/or quantitative analysis software
  • Self-motivation with the ability to deliver high quality research within planned deadlines
  • A clear and committed team-based attitude to project work

When applying, please be sure to include a cover letter highlighting your relevant experience in patient-centered outcomes research
