RTI Health Solutions (RTI-HS), a business unit of RTI, is a large and rapidly growing independent and internationally recognized research organization providing health care consulting and research expertise to optimize decision making for pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device products across the development and marketing lifecycle.

Our group, Medical Writing, Editing, and Design Services (MEDS), is seeking a new proposal editor in our Research Triangle Park based US office.

The MEDS group prioritizes quality and efficiency through training  and team member support. Our proposal editors each work with assigned research groups but have the opportunity to engage with researchers across the organization through workload sharing. The RTI- HS proposal editing environment is fast-paced and requires good judgment, diplomacy, willingness to ask the team for help, and a drive for content consistency.

In this role you will edit RTI-HS proposals for grammar, spelling, style, and consistency, according to the appropriate style guide and company standards

Additional responsibilities will include:

  • Formatting proposals according to RTI-HS or client-provided Word templates

  • Closely following and engaging with proposal production scheduling

  • Coordinating with and assisting MEDS peers regularly

  • Creating Adobe PDF files

  • Overseeing occasional graphics production for proposals


  • Four-year college degree in Liberal Arts, English, Communications, or Journalism

  • Knowledge of general grammar and punctuation rules

  • Familiarity with using style guides, particularly the AMA Manual of Style

  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and PowerPoint

  • Familiarity with medical terminology

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor and members of the editorial team

  • Ability to support a diverse group of internal customers and adapt working style to accommodate a variety of personalities and needs

  • Ability to communicate effectively and provide diplomatic and constructive comments to writers

  • Ability to prioritize workload and make strategic decisions about what to accomplish when faced with competing needs, including asking for help from team




Physical and mental demands of this role include those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, as outlined above.  Examples include:  remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time; operating a computer and other office machinery; thinking, learning, and concentrating effectively and frequently communicating with other people, both within RTI and outside of RTI; frequently moving about inside and travel between offices and laboratories; frequently conducting laboratory site inspections (if applicable), ability to handle the stress associated in meeting frequent, multiple and tight deadlines, ability to work in excess of 40 hours per week as workload and deadlines may require, consistent demonstration of mental stability and ability to have regular, reliable and predictable attendance.
